About Me:
For those of you who haven’t met me in any of my guises, I’m Jamie Wake, 28, and live with my partner, Selwyn, and my young and very year old King Charles Cavalier, Blenham. To know more about me I suppose you need to know how I got here.
I’ve been aware of my gift from an early age and I was drawn to the spiritualist movement from the age of 16. Looking back, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know anything about the spirit world. It just seems I’ve always known its there. Speaking to my mum, she’ll tell you I was a quiet child and would spend a lot of time in my own company. Apparently I would chatter endlessly to people my mother couldn’t see and I have a distinct memory of talking to an old man down a Hoover attachment! In hindsight, the house we lived in was haunted. It was a large old house on Maple Road, in Strood, Kent. My mother had a number of experiences in that house to know we weren’t alone. I remember that there was one room that no body liked going into - my bedroom.
My Journey
I left home at the age of 16 and was drawn to the spiritualist church. I’d always had an extremely active interest in the unknown. So much so that at school they used to make me sit outside the school office at break time so I didn’t influence the other school pupils! I used to read the tarot cards for friends and family. Usually with uncanny accuracy. I suppose it used to scare the other people at school. It was Mrs Webb at school that insisted I didn’t influence any other pupils. She was a religious teacher - perhaps it scared her. We used to take the Mickey out of her anyway. We were sure that her face would be half of its size if she took her make up off!
When I left home, I moved into a tiny, dingy bedsit in a quaint little village called Wye. It was a tiny little room that had an uneven floor - I hated it but I wanted to prove to everyone that I could live on my own. It was there that I met Maggie! I’m sure Maggie wasn’t her real name. I just used to call her that as if giving her a friendly name wouldn’t scare me! Yes - Maggie was a ghost. You would sit in your room, which had a windowed wall to the hall way and every now and again you would see a shape walk past the window. You knew you were alone in the building and yet this shape would just glide past the window. You would have a bath and things would move around the bath room. Things eventually took its toll on me and I had to move out of there. My fathers family lived in Gravesend and a room had become available so I decided to take it.
It was in Gravesend that I became a regular at a Spiritualist Church. I was always told that I would I was a medium and that I had to develop my gift. It was becoming a bit of a habit so I thought I better do something about it! I began to sit in a developing circle under the watchful eyes of a stone faced medium. We’d meet each Monday evening and we would spend some time meditating and then give messages to each other. I never really got anything to give apart from the odd symbol. I used to see a monk in my meditations and I used to ask the medium if this was one of my guides but she always said no it wasn’t. I think my age alienated me slightly. I was already writing inspirational poetry for the church - I wish I’d kept some copies. I used to present them in a booklet and have the church sell them to raise funds.
It was at this time that I had an experience that made me leave the spiritualist church. One evening, I was alone in my house just laying on the bed. All of a sudden, I felt myself being dragged off my bed and yet I couldn’t see anyone doing it. Scared stiff I ran to the bathroom but I was met by a load of shouting from the corner of the stairs. This time I decided that I wasn’t going to move. This time I decided to call a rescue medium in.
A day or so later, Paula, the rescue medium arrived. Accompanied by her husband a friendly old man they started to find the problem. Paula went into a trance like state and started talking in mans voice. "He" told us that his name was Francis Lloyd and that he had died in 1902 of polio. Paula helped him cross safely to the other side. Paula told me that I’d leave the spiritualist church for a while but I’d come back when I’m ready. She also told me that I’d been back to the Earth Plane many times and that I was a highly evolved spirit. She gave me details about a number of guides and helpers that were working with me at the time. They were:
Nashrim - an Indian lady who was helping me develop my clairvoyance abilities
A monk who was around to guide me. He apparently wouldn’t show his face though
A gate keep called Obee who was an Ethiopian dressed in Egyptian attire. We found this strange but I was told that he had beautiful sparking blue eyes
Everyone has a spirit guide and a number of helpers. Some have many through their lifetime. Some are only their to help on one particular task or develop a particular skill. Some are lucky enough to see them - others just feel them. I’ve seen one guide in a meditation. A giant of a man dressed in blue robes and with a white hair and white beard. I felt his energy and power and it knocked me for his six!
Now
Now ten years later I’ve returned to the Spiritualist Church. I’ve always wanted to come back but the timing has never seemed right. One day I was sitting in my living room with a couple of friends when something happened that told me I needed to come back. Other signs have happened but I’ve ignored them! From seeing an Indian in full headdress standing patiently in my bedroom to seeing a little black dog running around my living room. This particular day I was chatting away when the subject of spiritualism came up. I’ve always called myself a spiritualist and I was enjoying chatting about my beliefs. We’d just brought a new bin that opens up when you wave your hand in front of it - it has a movement sensor on it. Suddenly, we heard a right commotion from the kitchen. The bin was going ten to a dozen - we thought it was going to move across the kitchen! One of my friends shouted at it to stop it and it did. One of my other friends has never sadly been seen again after this! The bin carried on like that for a number of weeks afterwards - always stopping when being told to! Needless to say, since I’ve started going back to the Spiritualist Church, the bin hasn’t played up at all!
I hope this gives you an idea of how I’ve got to be where I am and gives you a little more background about myself and the work that I do.
